What you’ll need
Globus Connect Personal
If you’re sharing files from your personal endpoint, you’ll need:
- A Globus Plus subscription, or be a member of a subscription group.
- A directory that you’ll use as the base directory for your collection. Only files and subdirectories in this directory will be available in the collection. All files and subdirectories in this directory will be available in the collection.
- This directory must be specified as accessible and shareable in Options.
Note: Collections are based on directories. If you have a mix of files that you want to share and files you don’t in a directory, add the ones you want to share to a new directory before creating your collection.
Globus Connect Server
If you’re sharing files on a server endpoint, you’ll need:
- Permissions to create guest collections on the endpoint.
- A directory that you want to use as the base directory for your collection. Only files and subdirectories in this directory will be available in the collection. All files and subdirectories in this directory will be available in the collection.
Create a guest collection
- Go to https://app.globus.org/ in your web browser.
- Click Collections in the side menu bar.
- Click the name of the endpoint the collection belongs to.
File Manager will display settings for the endpoint.
- Click the Collections tab.
- Click + Add Guest Collection.
- Click Browse and navigate to the directory to be used for the collection.
Click to create a New Folder or to Show Hidden Items in the current directory.
Click Browse again to select the currently displayed directory.
- Enter a display name.
This will be used in the File Manager and displayed to anyone who can access the collection. - Enter a description and keywords to help people find and understand the collection’s purpose.
- Click Create Guest Collection.
