Globus uses two types of collection: mapped and guest collections.
Mapped collection
A mapped collection is a repository that resides on a storage system or location.
- Requires a local account (on the specific endpoint) to access.
- Can only be created by an admin.
- Can be set as high-assurance to provide additional security on the data within.
Guest collection
A guest collection is a shared folder within a mapped collection that allows external users to access the data.
- Exists in a mapped collection, or on a personal endpoint.
- Can be created by regular users.
- Allows for individual permission settings and share access.
