Using Globus, you can:
- Access your data on a laptop, HPC cluster, cloud storage and tape archive from a web browser.
- Transfer files between systems.
- Collaborate with other people.
- Manage protected data.
Globus uses endpoints and collections:
- An endpoint is a network location that Globus can transfer files to or from. There are two types of Globus endpoints: personal and server.
- A collection is a named location that is hosted on an endpoint. You don’t need to know the details of the endpoint to use the collection; you just need the collection’s name and the permissions to access the files in it.
Getting started with Globus
- Create a Globus account
- Log in and out of Globus
- Set up and use Globus Connect Personal
- Share data with Globus
Data encryption
You can choose to use encryption when transferring your data. Encrypted transfers use OpenSSL AES256-SHA configured on the endpoints.
